What I Am Learning

There are some things I am learning nowadays that are profound and I feel I ought to share. They are not new things, but I realise that they are things that we easily forget. It’s like a cool glass of water on a hot day! You may have taken several drinks of water before, but when you get a really cold glass of water on a hot day, coming out of the sun, you doubly appreciate that water.

A Call To Live!

Today, I invite us to live! God has deemed it fit to remove knowledge of the time of death from us. However, He has always enjoined us to live. Jesus said, ‘The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly’. John 10:10

Awamaridi, the Unfathomable God!

Modern civilization discounts the existence of God and His power and control of the universe. To many, God does not exist. If he did, why would there be so much evil on the earth? Why would evil people get away with the bad things they do? Why do heartbreaking things happen to good people? Why is the earth seemingly out of control, with major disasters happening in many places, people suffering, people dying unnecessarily? Where is God in all this?

Finding Purpose

He definitely wants us to lean on Him and depend on Him fully, irrespective of our circumstances. Our dependence is evidence of our faith and reliance. It says that we need Him. And because we need Him, we will seek Him, and with all our heart. And when we do this, we find Him, and He is pleased with us.

Tenacity of our faith

Today, we, the children of Abraham are uncountable, innumerable, like the sand at the sea shore. All over the world, we exist. In the nooks and crannies of the world, we exist. And every moment there are being added to the church, such as are to be saved!

So even if you were to count today, can you get them all? Between the time you start counting and the time you finish, there are being added, such as are to be saved, by the minute and by the second!!! To God be the glory!!!

Adultery…

It is a no holds barred society that we have here. Anything goes. We used to accuse the ‘oyinbos’ of being promiscuous; they have no values, they kiss in public etc.

In today’s Nigeria, especially in Lagos and other major cities, nude bars abound, strip clubs, high class prostitution dens. Nobody bats an eyelid. Nobody talks about them.

I read an article once in the newspapers, written by a like-minded man, asking parents the question – do you know what your daughter living in Abuja is up to? The man went on to reveal the activities of our politicians and rich contractors who throw money around in Abuja and how they ‘capture’ the greed of young, female Youth Corpers who were posted to spend their service year in Abuja.

What’s Up?

It can be amazing how fast time flies by and you find yourself running to catch up. I was talking about how March arrived overnight, when New Year’s Day felt like yesterday. In the past few days, I have had to ask myself, ‘What’s up?’, when it felt like there were not enough hours in the day.
