Awamaridi, the Unfathomable God!

 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!

“For who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has become His counselor?” Romans 11:33-34 NKJV

Human beings have been on this earth for many many years. Nowadays, a lot of people feel that they actually know everything there is to know about the earth. When we are happy, we fool ourselves into thinking that the whole world is under our feet and everything is in our control. How true! At the same time, how so untrue!!!

Modern civilization discounts the existence of God and His power and control of the universe. To many, God does not exist. If he did, why would there be so much evil on the earth? Why would evil people get away with the bad things they do? Why do heartbreaking things happen to good people? Why is the earth seemingly out of control, with major disasters happening in many places, people suffering, people dying unnecessarily? Where is God in all this?

Through this past Easter period, I have been thinking on some ‘new’ thoughts that are just being revealed to me. They are not new because they have always been ‘known’, but they are new to me, because I have never given any consideration to them before. What are these new thoughts?

One thought is the fact that when Jesus was constantly questioned about the restoration of Israel (Luke 24:21, Acts 1:6-8), rather than give the disciples the answer they expected, He turned their attention to other more important things (His Kingdom and the preaching of the gospel to all peoples), stating in Acts 1: 7 “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority”.

My interpretation of Acts 1:7 is this:  What is your interest in who rules? The most important thing for you now is to get power and to go about My Father’s business. The world is condemned already and heading for destruction. What does it matter whether it is Romans ruling or the Israeli? There is no salvation in either government. True salvation lies only in God and that is what you should get involved in right now. There is nothing you can do to change the trajectory of the earth. It is headed for doom. But you have the power to change the direction of your life. Don’t worry about the restoration of Israel but follow Me, obey My instructions.

Our Lord knew that what mattered most at that time was not whether the people were delivered from Roman domination, but that they were saved from eternal destruction. Kingdoms will come and go, governments will change on the earth, but the most important thing is what happens regarding our eternity. The life we live here on earth is short but it is what will determine eternity. Which is why we must pay exceptional attention to how we live. This takes us back to one of Jesus’ parables in Matthew 13, verses 24 through 30. The wheat and tares were left to grow together until the time of harvest, when the tares will be gathered and tied together for burning, after which the wheat will be gathered into the barn. This tells me that God allows the bad and the good to co-exist, until the final day.

If we explore this further, we can safely conclude that we will see evil and good flourishing on the earth, until the Lord of the Harvest is ready to separate them. So we, as children of God must be careful to not be distracted by such things. The fact that the unrighteousness are flourishing does not mean that they are going to be okay in the end. It just means that God has allowed them to be, maybe giving them more time to repent, if they will.

I like this verse in 2 Peter 3: 9 which says The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (NKJV).

The same verse in New Living Translation (NLT) version says ‘The Lord isn’t really being slow about His promise, as some people think. No, He is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent’.

Someone once said to me, while discussing the career path of a mutual friend, who had attained the highest rank in our industry, ‘Which God is he serving or which prayer did he pray that got him there?’ I had no words to reply with. After all, God’s ways are not our ways.

A second thing I have been contemplating is the fact that God’s ways are not our ways. My pastor once said that human beings want a God that they can understand or control, but if we can understand God or control Him, then He is no longer God. Romans 11: 33 which I opened this write up with, says His judgments are unsearchable and His ways are past finding out! If we look at the next verse, it asks who has given Him counsel? Who knows His mind? Also, Isaiah 40:28 says that His ways are unsearchable.

Our God is truly unfathomable! His ways are inscrutable. As much as He loves us and gives us access to His presence, we must never bring Him down to our level, whether consciously or subconsciously. He is God, highly exalted, the Most High God!

For the Lord is the great God,
And the great King above all gods. Psalm 95:3 NKJV

Because He is Sovereign, we cannot give Him counsel or ask Him why He does things the way He does. Rather, we should humble ourselves and submit to His will. As people, we think we know it all, and we know what is best, but God is supreme. He sees globally and knows the end from the beginning. He knows all things. His plans are perfect and He has everything planned out already. How can we question the Creator of the earth? When He was forming the earth, where were we?

“Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
Tell Me, if you have understanding.
5 Who determined its measurements?
Surely you know!
Or who stretched the [b]line upon it?
6 To what were its foundations fastened?
Or who laid its cornerstone,
7 When the morning stars sang together,
And all the sons of God shouted for joy?

8 “Or who shut in the sea with doors,
When it burst forth and issued from the womb;
9 When I made the clouds its garment,
And thick darkness its swaddling band;
10 When I fixed My limit for it,
And set bars and doors;
11 When I said,
‘This far you may come, but no farther,
And here your proud waves must stop!’ Job 38:4-11 NKJV

Today, I exalt the Most High God, Giver of Life, Merciful and Everlasting God!!! I give You all glory, Lord.

To God our Savior,
Who alone is wise,
Be glory and majesty,
Dominion and [c]power,
Both now and forever.
Amen. Jude 1:25 NKJV

Hallelujah!!!
