Praise in the Desert!

Today, I just want to share a poem I wrote a few years back, giving praise to God, my Father.  You might wonder, why do we need such poems, when we have the Book of Psalms with one hundred and fifty poems (or songs) of praise to God?

God delights in our praises. And He still wants to hear our voices lifted in praise, whether we are reciting psalms written ages ago or we are bringing our own poems, as a sacrifice of our lips and hearts, in thanksgiving and praise to His name.

So, enjoy this short poem with me, as I praise God with these words.

 

Praise in the Desert

I give praise to One who is worthy

The Most High, the Magnificent One

To Him my praise ascends

Out of the ashes of the past

In a dry and thirsty land

I reach out to the One who brought me through

Out of darkness to His light

Through the fire and the flood

Through the valley of the shadow of death

He brought me through it all

I cannot but praise Him

Lover of my soul

Redeemer of my past

Savior, Shepherd, Friend

Healer, Comforter, Faithful One

Who reigns in righteousness and justice

Faithful is Your Name

Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God

Unsearchable are Your ways O Lord,

Awesome is Your praise

My whole being declares Your praise

I rejoice in Who You are

And in who You have made me

Praise to Your Name, Lord Most High

Praise to You forever!!!

Advent!

Can I say that regardless of how this year turned out, we can still rejoice? Yes, we can. Because it’s not over until it’s over. Even in the dying days of this year, God can still show up for us. Even till the very last moment of the year. It is doubly reassuring that God is not limited by time, such that, even in the New Year, He can still do everything that we waited for in 2019 and did not receive. With Him, nothing is too difficult. With Him, all things are possible. All things.

I believe we are alive at this time for a reason. And whatever we need to survive and thrive in this world has been made available by God. When we look to Him for guidance and help, He will provide all the help that we need. He says “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest” Matthew 11:28 NLT

Ready To Roll!

In which direction are you running this year? I want to assume that you will be running and not wait and watch the year swing by? Run if you can. If you can’t, walk. If that is difficult, crawl. Whatever you do, make sure you’re not standing still. That is what my pastor used to say. Keep moving. It is within your movement that the Lord will lead you. There is so much anticipation for good things this year. Every word I’ve heard is positive and progressive. We have got to believe it and run with it, to ensure those words are fulfilled, in our personal lives as well as in the nation.

Thinking About King Women!

When I stumbled upon Kemi Adetiba’s King Women series on You Tube a few months back, it was a very happy discovery indeed! I was surprised, not only that she had conceptualized the idea (my assumption), but that she actually got some notable women to feature in the series. I was enthralled by the stories of the women from diverse areas of business and enterprise. I was encouraged by their confidence, their candor, their success, especially when it didn’t look like much would be forthcoming from them at the beginning! The stories were as much alike as they were different. It got me thinking for a very long time.

Your Relationship With Money

A lot of us struggle with money, especially as Christians. There are many preconceived notions and misconceptions about money. Some even say that ‘Money is the root of all evil’, misquoting the Bible verse that says “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” 1Timothy 6:10 NKJV

Summertime!

For me, this has been a very interesting year because I have been through so many different seasons in the last six months. The pandemic on its own has added a variety of feelings and emotions that have opened my eyes to certain truths I had failed to recognize about myself and the people around me. Talk about a reset!
