Anxiety

What is Anxiety? A feeling of worry, nervousness or unease about something with an uncertain outcome.

Going by this definition, I believe we can all relate. Our lives are filled with many uncertain outcomes. We have very little or no control over what happens in the next moment. Hence we tend to be anxious. The Bible tells us not to be anxious about any thing. Instead, we should pray and bring our issues before God. There’s also a promise that in its place, we will have the peace of God. Jesus said which one by worrying can add a cubit to his life? (Luke 12:25). Indeed, we can’t. I have never seen anyone whose circumstances changed because they worried. Yet, we succumb to worrying now and again.

God wants us to trust Him and rest in Him. He wants us to give our anxious thoughts to Him and leave them there. He will take care of it. Free us from the unnecessary burden. After all, we can’t do anything about it. If we could, we would have and there would be no need to worry. The very fact that we are worrying means we have done all we could and we are at our wit’s end. That is why we worry.

The past few weeks, I have been worrying. Praying a little and worrying a lot. Gradually, I have moved forward from worrying to praying more, to believing more about a particular situation. And I am glad to testify that worrying got me nowhere. However, when I started praying more, the situation started improving. It’s not totally resolved yet, but already I see the intervention of God, my Father.

Oh what peace we often forfeit,

Oh what needless pain we bear

All because we do not carry

Everything to God in prayer!

How true this song is! We have a friend in Jesus who is willing and able to carry all our anxious thoughts and give us peace instead. His peace. Not the type the world gives. The type that He alone can give. Today, I embrace that peace. I embrace His love for me. I trust Him with my worries.

The Bible says “Cast your cares upon Him because He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7

What joy, what bliss there is in Him. We do not deny our cares but we lay them down at His feet. We trust Him to take care of us and to provide solutions that we cannot even dream of. Because He is able to do it.

His faithfulness reaches to the clouds (Psalm 36:5)  We also know that His name is Faithful and True. (Rev. 19:11) He will never leave us nor forsake us. (Heb.13:5 & Deut. 31:6)

I continue to put my hope and my trust In Him. And I trust He will come through for me. Heb. 10:23 says we should hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

What is it that you’re grappling with at the moment? Are you struggling with worry and anxiety like me? Join me in trusting the Lord and unloading your burdens at His feet. It will save us from unnecessary stress. We will take our joy back and our peace too. So that we can now rejoice!

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thess. 5:16-18 NKJV

Grace to you!
