The Last Quarter!

Isn’t it amazing to realise that we have come to the last quarter of 2019? The days have flown by and we find ourselves trying to take stock of the first nine months of the year. In these parts, this is the time where gloom sets in. Unrealised dreams, unfulfilled promises, dashed hopes. Everything comes to the fore. For some however, it is a happy season. They have a lot to show for the first nine months and are rejoicing at God’s goodness.

Earlier today, I was commiserating with a friend who lost her husband unexpectedly. Life is indeed full of sadness and joy. The seasons of God!

Instead of thinking we know it all, we must just surrender to the One who has everything in His hands. Our plans can only work to the extent of His allowance. What He allows or not depends on the perfect plan that God maps out for each individual life, each people, each nation and globally. We can’t see as He sees, but we can trust Him. Which is what I told my friend today. “This is unexpected. We couldn’t have planned for this. But trust that God will see you through. He will provide for you and look after you and your children. There is nothing to fear, when we know that God is with us.”

When we dwell on the futility of life, it feels as if we should not bother to live. But live, we must. We must learn to rely on the power of God to deliver, to make a way, to lead us into purpose and destiny. Because the dreams that we have are not self-induced. Most of them were planted by God. He is the One who can help us bring those dreams into reality, as we depend on Him and lean on His wisdom and instruction.

These are the things I am learning nowadays. Life is not made up of hard and fast rules. There is flexibility that we find in God, as He fashions each moment of each life according to His plan. He leads us and guides us with His hand. And looking back, we see the beauty of His pattern. The beauty of His timing. The beauty and wisdom of His seasons in our lives.

So, if there’s anyone out there, despairing about life or certain events, go back to the Master and let Him show you His plan. You can rest assured He has one for you that will work out better than you ever imagined.

I am looking to Him today, to give me clarity, wisdom, direction to know which way to go and what to do. I am asking for boldness and courage to execute the things that He asks me to. Leaning on Him for wisdom and provision. Won’t you do the same?

It is in that place of dependence on God that we come to full actualization of His plans and our plans which conform to His will. There we can declare “Grace, Grace to it!”

Can I say that regardless of how this year turned out, we can still rejoice? Yes, we can. Because it’s not over until it’s over. Even in the dying days of this year, God can still show up for us. Even till the very last moment of the year. It is doubly reassuring that God is not limited by time, such that, even in the New Year, He can still do everything that we waited for in 2019 and did not receive. With Him, nothing is too difficult. With Him, all things are possible. All things.

Of Life And Time

Six whole months have passed! We are now in the third quarter of the year. It is a good time to think about time.

I want to look at this positively. While I may have spent six months doing nothing, I look back now and discover that a lot happened internally. While things were at a standstill on the outside of me, in my mind, a lot has been going on. I can recall the fear, which was a major battle in my mind; the discovery that my strength was small and I needed to build up on my faith and spiritual capacity; the actual engagement in prayers and study of the word, and confronting my weaknesses.

Thinking About King Women!

When I stumbled upon Kemi Adetiba’s King Women series on You Tube a few months back, it was a very happy discovery indeed! I was surprised, not only that she had conceptualized the idea (my assumption), but that she actually got some notable women to feature in the series. I was enthralled by the stories of the women from diverse areas of business and enterprise. I was encouraged by their confidence, their candor, their success, especially when it didn’t look like much would be forthcoming from them at the beginning! The stories were as much alike as they were different. It got me thinking for a very long time.
